The new Email code was presented by the DDMA and Thuiswinkel.org during the Email Marketing Conference. Advertisers hereby commit themselves to the rules that OPTA has been using for some time. Companies will inform consumers more transparently about their e-mail marketing. This makes it all a lot friendlier and clearer for consumers how their privacy is handled. DDMA and Thuiswinkel.org, in collaboration with VNO-NCW, have drawn up a new Code E-mail that will come into effect on 1 January 2012. The E-mail Code replaces the existing codes for commercial e-mail marketing to companies and consumers. Organizations have until 1 January 2012 to implement the code, with the Advertising Code Authority monitoring compliance. Email marketing needs to be more transparent The new E-mail code should make it clearer and more transparent for consumers what they are signing up for. For example, permission to receive e-mail must be immediately visible and no longer just stated in general terms and conditions. More importantly, someone should be able to sign out at the level they're signed in to.
Google was on the verge of acquiring start-up Australia Phone Number List Groupon some time ago, but the fast-growing company slammed the 6 billion offer! dollars off. Not much later, Google tightened up its policy regarding the collection of email addresses via Google advertisements. Something Groupon invested a lot of money into. And now Google Offers seems to be officially starting in the Netherlands. One of the first examples is a hotel offer.
